Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding, also known as hydromulching, is a fast, efficient, and cost-effective way to establish grass and ground cover. The process involves spraying a mixture of water, seed, mulch, fertilizer, and tackifier (a bonding agent) evenly over prepared soil. This slurry forms a protective layer that retains moisture, prevents erosion, and creates an ideal environment for seed germination and healthy growth.

At NexTerra Land Services, we tailor each hydroseeding project to fit your land, goals, and conditions. Whether you're establishing a new lawn, reclaiming disturbed soil, or controlling erosion on a slope, we’ve got you covered.

In West Texas, the most commonly used grass seeds are Bermuda—great for sun, drought, and wear resistance—Fescue, which performs well in shaded or cooler areas, and Buffalo grass, a low-maintenance, native option known for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in poor soils. However, we can hydroseed with a wide variety of seed blends, including native grasses, wildflowers, and custom mixes to match your specific project needs or environmental goals.

Why Choose Hydroseeding Over Sod?
Hydroseeding is often the smarter choice compared to sod. It’s more affordable for covering large areas, offers better root establishment since the grass grows directly in your soil, and allows for custom seed blends suited to your site conditions. Unlike sod, which can dry out or fail to root properly, hydroseeding creates a consistent and well-protected growing environment from day one. With the right care, hydroseeded grass can be lush, healthy, and long-lasting—often with better long-term results than sod.

If you're unsure about which seed type is right for your land, our team will help you select the best option for long-term success.

Erosion Control

Erosion control is critical for protecting soil, stabilizing slopes, and supporting successful vegetation growth—especially here in West Texas, where wind and runoff can quickly wash away unprotected ground. At NexTerra Land Services, we use hydromulching to deliver a reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible solution for erosion control on construction sites, roadways, pipelines, and disturbed land.

Hydromulching involves spraying a specialized mixture of water, mulch, tackifier, and seed directly onto the soil. This application forms a protective layer that holds soil in place, retains moisture, and promotes rapid vegetative growth. For high-performance results, we use premium products like Profile’s Flexterra® High Performance-Flexible Growth Medium™ (HP-FGM™) and ProMatrix™, both featuring Engineered Fiber Matrix™ (EFM™) technology. These materials are designed to outperform traditional straw or blanket methods, especially on steep slopes or difficult terrain.

Our hydromulching services are ideal for:

  • Construction site stabilization

  • Roadside and highway slope protection

  • Pipeline right-of-ways

  • Land reclamation projects

  • Stormwater and drainage areas

Whether you need temporary stabilization or long-term erosion control with native grass establishment, we can customize a solution to match your project’s needs and environmental conditions.
